Job Brief

As an AWS DevOps Systems Administrator on our Engineering Team, you will maintain, secure, optimize, and innovate the technical resources that support our product platforms, cloud services, and websites.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Maintains smooth operations (reliable, efficient, secure, and cost-optimized) of platforms, infrastructure, networks, storage, and data pipelines 
  • Develops and monitors system, network, and security policies and standards 
  • Reports on current infrastructure status, cost tracking, and planning for future usage 
  • Owns platform instantiations, restarts, recovery, and data backups for said activities 
  • Supports asset management of hardware equipment and licenses 
  • Handles multiple tasks at the same time and refocuses based on changing priorities 
  • Ability to manage and organize ambiguity 
  • Keeps current on advances in the field of systems administration 
  • Acts in a mentoring capacity to support the career development of other colleagues 
  • Contributes to the internal development of our practice through participation in areas such as business development, training, methodology and toolkit development, and recruiting 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related discipline 
  • 3+ years working with AWS (IAM, VPC, EFS, RDS, CloudWatch, EC2, Lambda, S3, Route 53, etc.) 
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, including AWS modules and resource provisioning 
  • Skilled in Python and Bash scripting for automation and tool development 
  • Knowledgeable in CI/CD pipelines, job configurations, and automation using Jenkins 
  • Familiar with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration, integration, and deployment management 
  • Adept at using PostgreSQL for database management, SQL queries 
  • Comfortable with Git for version control and collaboration 
  • Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written, including documentation 
  • Well-versed in computer networks and hardware 
  • Able to effectively interface with system users, project leaders, and vendors 
  • Acquainted with configuration management tools 
  • Proficient in Windows and Linux systems 
  • Good organizational and time-management skills 
  • Ability to work remotely, demonstrating self-motivation and effective communication skills 
  • Military Service is a plus 
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Job Brief 

As Senior Full Stack Software Engineer at Polaris I/O, you’ll help build fully-fledged components for our web applications using a range of different technologies. You’ll be involved in the entire product development lifecycle including the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of new and existing features. You’ll write clean and functional code on the front- and back-end. You’ll collaborate closely with both our product team and development team to ensure system consistency and to create a great user experience. You’ll write reusable and maintainable code. You’ll optimize web design for usability, network latency, and infrastructure cost. You’ll also perform UI tests to optimize performance. Ultimately, your work will have direct impact on the stability and user experience of our products. 

We are looking for a driven contributor who is passionate about people, technology, data, and client satisfaction.  This role will report directly to the Information Technology Lead and have a direct impact on our business performance and the continued growth of our engineering teams and technologies.

  • Implement improvements on the existing platform. 
  • Serve as a core member of an agile team that drives user story analysis and elaboration, designs and develops software applications, tests, and builds automation tools. 
  • Provide core system design, evaluate, and improve platform components. 
  • Deliver working prototypes and frameworks for delivery teams to build upon. 
  • Perform hands-on software development of highly scalable components that are required to have a high-performance service interface (REST API) capable of scaling to extremely high transaction rates. 
  • Drive consistent development patterns, practices, tools, and common components. 
  • Utilize third-party frameworks where applicable. 
  • Develop deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms within the supported domains. 
  • Work with technical product managers and contribute to blueprints while assisting with annual planning of feature sets.
